Dopravní podnik města Brna (DPMB) is seeking a contractor to rebuild the trolleybus depot in Komín in Brno. The expected cost is 800 million koruna. The reconstruction is meant to modernise the site, increase its capacity and bring new vehicle maintenance facilities, flats for employees and a fire station.[1][2]

Contents of the project

The plan includes a new parking building for trolleybuses with facilities and flats for employees, and a hall for maintenance and repairs with a washing bay, a daily-servicing area and diagnostics. An energy centre with a converter station, a car park for passenger cars and a fire station for the volunteer firefighters of Komín are also to be built on the site. The project also provides for changes to the entrances and the connections to Jundrovská and Podveská streets.[1]

Procedure and deadlines

The reconstruction is to proceed in several consecutive stages: first the documentation for removing the existing buildings and their demolition, with project preparation and construction of the new buildings running in parallel. DPMB wants to start trial operation of the rebuilt depot by the end of June 2029 at the latest, and the flats and the fire station are to be completed by the end of the same year.[1][2]

The Brno city councillor for transport, Petr Kratochvíl (ODS), said that the city will seek co-financing from the Transport Operational Programme 2021–2027. After the depots in Pisárky and Slatina, the Komín depot is the third site of the transport company to undergo extensive modernisation.[1][2]
