A new paid car park with 66 spaces is due to be built near the railway station in Otrokovice by the end of 2026.

The town of Otrokovice is planning a new paid car park with 66 spaces next to the railway station, which is due to be completed by the end of 2026. The town bought the plot on the corner between J. Jabůrkové Street and the road running along the station at the end of 2024. The area is meant to serve residents of the Přednádraží housing estate as well as people who come to the station to catch a train.[1][2]
The parking area is to be connected to J. Jabůrkové Street with a shared entrance and exit. The central road will have a surface of recycled asphalt, the individual bays of recycled concrete. The works will also include a pavement linking to the existing pedestrian route, new lighting, road signs and the planting of mature trees.[2]
The original design provided for barriers at the entrance and exit. The town chose a simpler way of payment without them, because according to Mayor Hana Večerková a barrier system would require a further investment of about one million crowns. Payments are to be checked by the municipal police, whose officers will scan licence plates, and the system will assess whether the parking fee has been paid. The price list and the method of payment have not yet been set.[1][2]
Večerková said that the town wants to encourage sensible use of the car park by charging for it and to prevent vehicles from being left there for long periods. The town opened the area to drivers already during the summer reconstruction of Havlíčkova and Dr. E. Beneše streets. According to town spokeswoman Lenka Vaculová, it will have to be cleared before construction begins.[1]
