Petra Absolonová is the ANO candidate in the 2026 Senate elections in the Vyškov area.[1] According to Seznam Zprávy, she works as head nurse in the gastroenterology department of the Masaryk Memorial Cancer Institute and for several years has also been involved in raising awareness about the prevention of cancer and its early detection.[2]

Senate campaign

Prime Minister Andrej Babiš (ANO) began a trip around the South Moravian Region on Friday 25 September 2026, accompanied by Finance Minister Alena Schillerová, who leads the South Moravian branch of ANO. He visited Šlapanice, Bučovice and Rousínov and in municipalities in the Vyškov area he endorsed Absolonová.[1] According to Babiš, her opponent is the chairman of the Christian Democrats and governor of the South Moravian Region, Jan Grolich.[1]

Babiš and First Deputy Prime Minister Karel Havlíček presented Absolonová in their podcast Sorry jako. In a commentary, Seznam Zprávy criticised Havlíček's jokes about colonoscopy examinations, arguing that they do not help promote prevention. According to the commentary, Absolonová distanced herself from his words.[2]
