Petr Bříza is a former Czech goaltender and vice-president of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF).[1][2] In 2026 he ran for its presidency.[1]

The IIHF presidential election

In the first round he received the most votes, 48, ahead of Franz Reindl with 36 votes and Aivaz Omorkanov of Kyrgyzstan with 33 votes, who was eliminated. In the second round, however, Reindl received 60 votes and Bříza 57.[1][2] Reindl thus became the fifteenth IIHF president for the next four years.[1] According to Seznam Zprávy, Bříza remained a vice-president of the federation.[2] The two had already competed for the post five years earlier, when Luc Tardif won.[1]
