On 24 October 2026, a paraglider got stuck in the branches of a tall tree in the Ústí nad Orlicí district. According to Novinky, he was about twenty metres above the ground.[1] Firefighters learned of the incident after 2 p.m. According to Petra Dubcová, spokesperson for the Pardubice Region fire brigade, the man's parachute became caught in the branches during a manoeuvre.[1]
Due to the inaccessible terrain, a quad bike of the Králíky Mountain Rescue Service was also deployed. Professional firefighters from Králíky were sent to the scene along with mountain rescuers. [2] Climbers from the fire station in Ústí nad Orlicí climbed up into the treetop, secured the man and lowered him to the ground; the parachute was also freed from the branches. The intervention lasted a little over an hour from the time it was reported. The man was uninjured and the emergency medical service was not needed.[1][2] Acting Pardubice Region fire brigade spokesperson Petra Dubcová stated regarding the intervention that the climbers' work requires "one hundred percent concentration" and physical fitness.
