PHP is a programming language used to run websites and other internet services.[1]

Prevalence

The language is used by a large part of the internet, from simple blogs through large news portals to extensive online shops. According to the DPA agency, PHP also underlies the WordPress tool, which experts say powers roughly 400 to 500 million websites worldwide.[1]
