The regional court in Liberec opened the main trial on 2 November 2026 in the extensive corruption case around the Liberec transport company DPMLJ. The case concerns mainly the years 2016 to 2018 [1][2].

Scope of the case

Investigators have charged more than thirty people and companies in the case. Six people and five companies among them had earlier concluded agreements on guilt and punishment with the public prosecutor's office, and the courts approved them; the court imposed a fine on all of them and a suspended sentence on some [1][2]. One of the company's former officials, a Liberec councillor for ANO, was finally convicted two years ago and received a suspended sentence and a fine of 2.21 million crowns [1][2].

Charges

The police regard the accused businessman as the central figure of the case. According to their findings, as stated several times during the hearing of the agreements on guilt and punishment, he tried to influence the running of the transport company covertly to his own benefit through the company's former director and the former chairman of its board. The trial before the court has begun for this businessman and the former director [1][2].
