The Malaysian chain MR.D.I.Y. opened its first Czech store on 20 October 2026 in the Forum Nová Karolina shopping centre in Ostrava. The store, with an area of 833 square metres, offers household goods, tools and DIY supplies, toys, home decorations, stationery, small furniture, travel accessories and seasonal goods. Some of the products carry the MR.D.I.Y. brand.[1][2]
Prices
The chain aims to compete with low prices. According to iDNES.cz, prices are often comparable to those of the Action and Pepco chains; for example, kitchen sponges cost 12 korunas, frying pans 153 korunas, bed linen from 119 korunas and a toy car 305 korunas.[2]
Expansion plans
The manager for expansion and business development, Leoš Kocman, said the chain sees Ostrava as a starting point for further growth and wants to gradually expand its presence in the Moravian-Silesian Region. In the first phase, the company wants to open 20 stores in Prague and other large cities; in the long term it plans a network of more than a hundred stores in Czechia.[1][2]
According to Markéta Dostálková, senior asset manager at REICO EAM, Forum Nová Karolina has almost ten million visits a year.[2]
