The hospital in Stod in the Plzeň Region has opened a rheumatology clinic. Appointments can be made by phone, by e-mail or through the Medevio online system, even without a doctor's referral. According to the head of the clinic, waiting times for a first examination are short, whereas in Czechia they usually run to weeks or months.[1]

Focus

The clinic offers counselling, diagnostics and care for patients with rheumatological problems and related internal medicine problems. Typical symptoms include joint pain and swelling lasting at least two weeks, shoulder pain and recurring joint stiffness at night or in the morning. Depending on urgency, the doctor books the patient for a detailed examination, starts treatment and, as agreed, enrols the patient in long-term care.[1]

Expansion of care

According to the hospital's director Daniel Hajšman, this is a further expansion of outpatient care. Over the past two years the hospital has opened, among others, a clinic for ischaemic heart disease and cardiac conditions, a chronic wound counselling service, a second orthopaedic and vascular clinic and a nutrition counselling service. Two new consulting rooms were created for them in the neighbouring building. The rheumatology clinic is located in the connecting passage between the outpatient and inpatient wings.[1]
