Miroslav Dittrich is a former chairman of the Czech Radio Council.[2] In October 2026 he stood for one of two vacant seats on the council, for which five candidates competed in the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic. The seats became vacant when the terms of Ondřej Matouš and Jaroslav Šebek ended at the end of September 2026.[1][3]
In the first round of the secret ballot on 14 October 2026 Dittrich received 59 votes against the 81 needed; Matouš defended his seat, and Dittrich advanced to the second round together with Jakub Jíra.[1][3] Tomáš Kňourek received two votes in the first round and Pavel Baran one vote. [4] In the second round on 20 October 2026 Dittrich received 69 votes and Jíra 85 votes, with at least 79 needed, and Jíra was elected.[1][2] The Czech Radio Council has nine members, six of whom are elected by the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic and three by the Senate of the Czech Republic. [1] The council oversees the activity of the public-service radio, approves its budget and appoints and dismisses the director general. [1] Jakub Jíra is a presenter and creator of online programmes and obtained a six-year term. [1]
