Třinec is to be led by a minority coalition of Volte Třinec, KDU-ČSL and Společně pro Třinec. Marian Plucnar, leader of the winning group, is to become mayor.

The statutory city of Třinec in the Frýdek-Místek region is to be led, after the municipal elections, by a minority coalition of the group Volte Třinec, KDU-ČSL and the group Společně pro Třinec. Marian Plucnar, leader of the winning group Volte Třinec, confirmed this on 29 October 2026 and said he should run for mayor. The coalition has 12 of the 27 seats in the council: Volte Třinec has eight, KDU-ČSL and Společně pro Třinec two each.[1][2]
Plucnar said that the coalition counts on winning a vote of confidence at the inaugural council meeting, which is to take place on 5 November 2026. In his view, support from Osobnosti pro Třinec, which have four seats, should help the coalition push its plans through. He did not rule out support from Nezávislí Třinec and the ANO movement either.[1][2]
After the elections two blocs formed in the city. The second consists of Nezávislí Třinec with six seats and the ANO movement with five, together 11 votes. Ivan Frömmer, leader of Nezávislí, said they had proposed a broad coalition of both blocs but did not succeed, and that they would support the minority coalition in steps that are, in his view, in the interest of residents. Adam Kurzok, who is negotiating for Osobnosti pro Třinec, said that talks are under way and nothing can be confirmed or ruled out yet.[1]
The previous coalition consisted of Osobnosti pro Třinec, KDU-ČSL and Společně pro Třinec. The long-time head of the municipality and later mayor Věra Palkovská did not run this year, and Osobnosti lost more than two thirds of the 13 seats won in the 2022 elections.[1]
