Marek Eben is a Czech presenter and actor. Together with the actress Tereza Kostková he hosts the dance competition StarDance on the ČT1 channel of Czech Television.[1][2]
According to Forum 24, StarDance has been broadcast since 2006.[3] According to iDNES.cz, Czech Television said in October 2026 that talks on the presenters of the next series were coming to an end, but did not confirm any names. It wished viewers to enjoy this year's series with Eben and Kostková and promised to announce their successors in good time.[4]
In the Saturday broadcast of 24 October 2026, Eben opened the programme by referring to the fairy-tale theme of the episode and said the presenters would like to make a major political statement but were not suitably dressed for it. He then said he believed that good would triumph and the devil would take the bad, which the audience received with applause.[1][2] According to Seznam Zprávy, the remark was taken as a reaction to the fact that the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic had sent a government bill on the funding of public service media to second reading early that same morning.[1] Josef Ducký, the programme's coordinator for Czech Television, said that StarDance has long been an apolitical programme.[1]
