Kam na západě is an online calendar of events that the Karlovy Vary Region launched on 2 October 2026. The portal gathers information on concerts, exhibitions, festivals, sports events and programmes for children from across the region [1][2].

Reason for its creation

Information on events had so far been scattered across the websites of towns, cultural institutions, information centres and organisers, or on social networks [2]. Jitka Čmoková, spokesperson of the region, said that the new calendar links these sources in one place, so that a visitor does not have to go through many different websites [1].

Features of the portal

Users can search for events by date, place, type or focus and display them on a map [1][2]. For individual events, one can click through to detailed information or to ticket purchase [1][2]. A chosen event can be saved to an electronic calendar or shared, and the system also allows a regular subscription to event information according to one's own preferences [1][2].

Involvement of organisers

Events get into the system automatically from selected existing calendars, but organisers can also enter them directly through their own administration interface [2]. Towns and municipalities, cultural institutions, information centres, organisers of festivals and concerts, galleries, museums, libraries, sports organisations, schools, associations and non-profit organisations can take part [2]. Before the portal was launched, the region held professional training sessions for organisers [2].

Costs and further plans

The Karlovy Vary Region invested 1.14 million crowns in creating the portal [2]. In the coming months, the region plans to increase the number of participating organisers and the number of published events, and it is also preparing regular tips and thematic selections on social networks [2].
