Karel Vejmelka is a Czech ice hockey goaltender who plays in the NHL for Utah.[1] He is a product of the Třebíč youth system. [2]
In the first game of the new NHL season in which he appeared, he stopped 15 shots from Chicago and Utah won 6–0. According to the Czech News Agency, it was his ninth shutout in his career. In the last preseason game, Colorado did not score on him.[1] On 8 October 2026 Vejmelka came on against Boston after just under sixteen minutes in place of Sebastian Cossa, faced 14 shots and conceded three goals; Utah lost 6–1. [2]
Against Chicago he was named the third star of the game. Vejmelka was the busiest goaltender in the NHL the previous season, and Deník.cz reported that over the summer he had paid more attention to mental preparation. [3] Utah coach André Tourigny said of him that he was “confident, solid” and added that when the team needed to be held up with an important save, he made it.[1]
