Jan Koller is a former football striker from Smetanova Lhota and, with 55 goals, the all-time top scorer of the Czech national team.

Jan Koller is a former football striker, a native of Smetanova Lhota in South Bohemia. Hospodářské noviny call him the best scorer in the history of the Czech national team, with a record 55 international goals. He ended his professional career in 2011.[1]
Career
He played for Sparta Prague, Lokeren, Anderlecht Brussels, Dortmund, Monaco, Nuremberg, Samara and Cannes.[1] He played his last match for the Czech national team in September 2009. He took part in the 2006 World Cup and in the European championships in 2000, 2004 and 2008.[1] His nickname is "Dino".[1]
After his professional career
According to Czech Radio, which published its text on 22 September 2015, Koller lives in Monaco and has worked there as an assistant coach since the previous year. When he returns to Bohemia, he likes to play for his home village club or take part in an exhibition match.[2]
Hospodářské noviny describe how he played in the district championship for Smetanova Lhota the previous year. He missed the spring part of the season, however, because of French lessons in Monaco, which began in January and were to last until July. Koller said he wants to continue at the club from the autumn if an opportunity arises.[1]
Beach soccer
At the time Hospodářské noviny published its article, Koller was thirty-nine years old. At an indoor tournament in Prague he played for the first time for BS Bohemians 1905 and scored a goal in a 5:1 win over Slovakia's Artful BSC Bratislava. He had played beach soccer only once before, in France. According to the newspaper, he might return to the national team in the future, this time in beach soccer. Koller himself said that the tournament is a test of whether he will have it in him at all, and that nothing can yet be said about the national team.[1]
