The Football Association of the Czech Republic (FAČR) is the national football association based in Prague.[1]
The association includes an ethics committee and an appeals committee. In 2026 the ethics committee imposed a twenty-year ban on activity and a fine of 500,000 crowns on the goalkeeper Marek Kalina for taking part in a corruption case. Kalina appealed, then left the association and lost his membership in it, and the appeals committee therefore suspended his appeal proceedings. This was reported in communiqués on the FAČR website.[1][2]
A large-scale corruption and bribery case began in March 2026. Besides the FAČR ethics committee, the police are dealing with it; they are prosecuting the accused, among other things, for fraud, bribery and legalisation of proceeds of crime. The highest-placed club in the case is Karviná, which was moved from the first league to the second league because of it.[1]
It is the practice that, where someone gives up membership to avoid a penalty, the ethics committee proposes to the FAČR executive committee that the person not be admitted to the association again.[1]
