A fire of a family house with a barn in Lubník in the Ústí nad Orlicí District injured one person on 10 October 2026. Firefighters left to attend the fire shortly before midnight on Friday 9 October 2026.[1][2]
Firefighters' response
Five units of professional firefighters and two volunteer units arrived at the scene. They first searched the house because of concern that someone might be inside; this was not confirmed. The owner of the house was outside the building and paramedics took him to hospital for treatment.[1][2] The fire was fought with four water jets until morning, with a shortage of water. Pressurised cylinders and tyres stored in the building exploded, and firefighters had to track down and extinguish many hidden hotspots.[2]
Ceilings and the roof collapsed during the operation, and because of damaged structural stability firefighters pulled down an unstable gable. They also used aerial equipment, and the incident commander used a drone.[1][2] After seven o'clock on the morning of 10 October part of the units could leave; a volunteer unit kept watch over the site.[2]
Investigation
An investigator went to the scene to estimate the damage and determine the cause of the fire.[1][2]
