Diamo is a state enterprise. Since 2002 it has operated the Heřmanice spoil heap in Ostrava, which consists of waste rock and waste from former mines and coking plants and covers about 103.5 hectares. The heap is burning inside and releasing harmful substances into the air; its remediation, which began more than twenty years ago, is suspended. Several disputes have arisen over the heap, and Diamo is a party to some of them.
The enterprise's spokesman is Tomáš Indrei.
