Daniel Stach is a presenter at Czech Television.[2] He speaks on behalf of Veřejnoprávně, an initiative of public service media employees.[3]
On 23 October 2026, in front of the Czech Radio building on Vinohradská, he announced that employees of Czech Television and Czech Radio would hold a day-long strike on 3 November 2026.[3] The strike is aimed against a planned change under which the media would be funded from the state budget instead of by households.[3] The announcement followed the coalition pushing through, on the same day in the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic, priority consideration of the government bill abolishing the television and radio licence fee.[3]
Stach said that the strike would take place within the limits of the law and would be interrupted in a crisis situation, for example during floods or a tornado.[1] According to him, the reduction in broadcasting is to be more noticeable than during the warning strike in June.[1] The greatest impact is expected on the news channel ČT24.[1] He described the change in funding as a potential threat to the independence of both media.[1] Of the dispute between government and opposition parties, he said: "This is a political fight that I do not interfere in."[1]
