The National Cyber and Information Security Agency (NÚKIB) recorded 26 cyber incidents in September 2026. This is the third-highest monthly number over the past year; the most occurred in January (32), and the second-highest number fell in August (28). In 2025 the agency recorded 203 incidents in total, 65 fewer than a year earlier, which corresponds to a monthly average of roughly 17. October 2024 remains the record month, with 47 incidents.[1]
Of the September incidents, 25 belonged to the less significant category and one to the significant category; the agency recorded no highly significant incident. More than half were intrusions. Entities from education and public administration were targeted most often. Attackers went after user accounts, web portals and e-mail and cloud service servers, and in several cases penetrated internal networks through unauthorised VPN access. The agency also recorded several incidents in the area of information security and deployments of malicious code.[1]
