On 19 October 2026 the coalition of Moje Semily, ANO 2011 and Volba pro Semily agreed in Semily; the MP David Pražák is to become mayor.

After the 2026 municipal elections, a coalition of the groupings Moje Semily, ANO 2011 and Volba pro Semily was agreed in Semily. Each of them won six seats, and together they hold 18 of the 21 votes in the town council. The mayor is to be the MP David Pražák (ANO), who is to hold the office as a non-full-time councillor. The agreement was announced on 19 October 2026 by the Czech News Agency and other media.[1][2]
Composition of the leadership
The first deputy mayor is to be Sebastian Kuršel of Moje Semily, a non-full-time official who is the cultural director of the company Fabrika 1861. The second deputy mayor is to be Tomáš Sábl of Volba pro Semily, in a full-time post. In the seven-member council, Moje Semily is to have three representatives (including Veronika Nechanická and Lukáš Rambousek), ANO two (among them Martin Krajíc) and Volba pro Semily two (among them Lena Mlejnková). The composition has to be confirmed by the inaugural meeting of the town council.[1][2]
Election result
Moje Semily, a newcomer to the elections, won; ANO finished second and Volba pro Semily third. Volba pro Semily thus did not win for the first time in 20 years. Společně pro Semily won two seats and ODS one (three four years earlier). Pražák received the most preferential votes, 1,256, and Kuršel 1,120. Voter turnout of 48.34 percent was the highest among district towns; in 2022 it was 43.60 percent.[1][2]
Priorities and background
The coalition lists among its shared priorities the development of sports infrastructure including the preparation of an indoor swimming pool, support for entrepreneurs, transport accessibility, public space, safety, health care, housing and new jobs. Pražák also mentioned the completion of the facilities of the athletics stadium and the revitalisation of housing estates. According to him, the swimming pool would not be built within four years, but the project should reach the implementation stage in the next term.[1][2]
Semily, with about 8,000 inhabitants, is the smallest district town of the Liberec Region. Since 2015 it had been led by Lena Mlejnková (Volba pro Semily), who became a senator in 2024 and did not seek the office of mayor again. The town will thus get a new mayor after 11 years. ANO will be in coalition with Volba pro Semily for the third consecutive term.[1][2]
