Choceň is a town whose leadership, after the municipal elections in October 2026, consists of a new coalition.
Municipal elections 2026
The election results divided the seats on the town council among four groupings in the ratio 8, 5, 5 and 3. Živá Choceň won the most seats. The grouping Lidovci a nezávislí finished third, yet the post-election talks opened the way for it to lead the town.
Lidovci a nezávislí first tried to negotiate a three-party coalition with the grouping Pro Choceň Společně and with Nestraníci, but the talks were ended by Nestraníci. They then agreed on a coalition with Živá Choceň. At the time of the interview, the details of the coalition agreement were being discussed.
Town leadership
Anežka Pavlišová, the lead candidate of Lidovci a nezávislí, who had already sought the post in 2022, is expected to become mayor. The first deputy mayor is to be Jan Homuta of Živá Choceň. The new mayor named responsible management of the town's finances as her priority.
