The Ministry of Defence of the Czech Republic cancelled a contract for 185 armoured vehicles intended for combat engineers, military medics, special forces and the Military Police; the cancellation was reported on 1 October 2026 by the servers Aktuálně.cz and Ekonomický deník. The value of the contract amounted to nearly CZK 25 billion.[1][2] As the reason for the cancellation, the ministry cited, among other things, economic circumstances in the public procurement register. [1]*

According to spokesman Petr Pešek, the cancelled tender completely lacked a risk assessment and a financial analysis. [4]

After addressing the shortcomings, the ministry intends to announce a new tender and maintains that the need for the vehicles has not disappeared. [1]

The ministry began preparing the procurement in 2018 and later postponed it due to a lack of funds. [3]

Opposition representatives criticised the cancellation and called for a more detailed explanation; some analysts are concerned about the impact on the army's capabilities, while others consider a new tender the best solution. [1]
