Broumovsko is an area in the Náchodsko region of the Hradec Králové Region, covered by the activities of the Broumovsko Protected Landscape Area Administration.
According to a report on wolf monitoring in the Czech-Polish border region over the twelve months since May 2025, published by conservationists as part of the cross-border CZ-PL Interreg project, 20 to 27 wolves in three cross-border packs live in the Broumov Highlands and their surroundings [1]. Two wolves there have worn GPS collars since spring, which they received after a reported close encounter between a wolf and a person; conservationists recorded shy behaviour in them, with no seeking out of closeness to people [1][2].
Wild animals make up over 90 per cent of the wolves' diet in Broumovsko, with roe deer as the main component and wild boar also significant. Livestock, especially sheep, make up 6.9 per cent, the highest share of all the areas monitored. Miroslav Kutal of Mendel University in Brno, according to the Czech News Agency, links this to the larger number of sheep farms and to the fact that some farms do not meet the minimum standards of the Nature Conservation Agency of the Czech Republic for protecting pastures [1].
