Bill Clinton is an American politician and former President of the United States. For the 90th anniversary of the birth of Václav Havel, which fell on October 5, 2026, he recorded a short video for Czech Radio. In it, he called Havel a friend and one of the most inspiring leaders he had worked with, and said he was grateful for the opportunity to support the Czech Republic and its emerging democracy.[1]
At the end of the video, he played the song “Happy Birthday to You” on the saxophone. This was a nod to his 1994 visit to Prague, when Havel took him to the Reduta jazz club and gave him a saxophone made in the Czech Republic. In the recording, Clinton said: “I think about him all the time.”[1]
