According to Michael Georgiev, spokesperson for the Liberec Region Emergency Medical Service, the assaulted man suffered serious injuries.[1][2] A ground crew transported him to the trauma centre of the Liberec hospital.[1][2] According to a female reader who alerted Liberecká Drbna to the incident, the victim was said to be a member of staff at Casino Babylon Liberec.[1] The website iDNES.cz repeated this information, citing Liberecká Drbna; neither the police nor the operator of the centre has confirmed it.[2]
Police response
Police officers detained a suspect on the spot and placed the person in a police cell.[1][2] Police spokesperson Vojtěch Robovský said that standard procedural steps of criminal proceedings were under way, namely securing and evaluating traces and evidence and questioning persons and witnesses.[1] According to Robovský, the call had concerned a physical assault in which one person was injured, who was subsequently taken to the Liberec hospital.[2] At the time the reports were published, the circumstances and motive of the attack were the subject of further investigation.[1]
The location
Nitranská Street is home to only one establishment of this type, Casino Babylon, which is part of Centrum Babylon.[2] The editors of iDNES.cz approached the centre's press spokesperson, who did not comment on the case.[2]
